I'll Miss You, Where Ever You Are!

I haven't blogged for over a week now. Somehow I can't get my mind around it. I lost my youngest Mamaji this Friday.

It was totally unexpected, he was in his early 50's. He woke up in the morning on Thursday complaining of uneasiness, and within the hour slipped into unconsciousness. He never woke up from that deep sleep. We later found out that he had suffered a brain hemorrhage. His heart stopped beating on Friday morning. Within a period of 24 hours, he went from a lively, loving, stylish human being to just a memory.

I don't think it has really sunk into me, especially since I could not go to his funeral as my younger brother has his exams.

ATB Learning Curve: What do I really look like?

As a beauty blogger, one of the things you have to do is develop a positive relationship with your face. You have to understand how your eyes are (mines are almond shaped & deep set, btw), your skin undertones, your mouth shape, your cheekbones and then through trial & error figure out what colors & placements suit you best.

In certain ways I feel that beauty blogging is a very therapeutic way to learn, accept & love the face you are born with. You have to confront it, with all it's pros & cons, and then emphasize the best bits (that is what I do).

But it takes a while to understand what you really look like. Further compounding the issue are mirrors & cameras. They can be your best friends or your worst foes.

Let's talk about mirrors first.

MAC Satin Lipstick In Retro - Review

Color (as described by MAC): Muted peachy pink brown
Price: Rs. 990/-
Finish: Satin(Colour-rich. Soft satin, semi-matte finish. Conditions while adding intense colour.)
Collection:Permanent
What I love about this lipstick:      1.Bobbi Brown once said “Every woman should have a shade you can wear anytime you want to look polished.” Or something to that effect.       This lipstick is that shade for me. It instantly brightens my face, makes my eyes look more greener. It is a shade I can wear all by itself on a bare face and not feel the need for anything else. It goes with all my outfits and looks appropriate enough for office with bare eyes and as a tint with smoky eyes at the club.

Deepika Padukone's Makeup in Cocktail

I have been planning to write this post for the longest time ever!

I saw the movie the very weekend it was released, and kept meaning to write this, but first I got a bit busy & then later I got the flu (which I still have a bit of).

When I had the opportunity to meet Deepika a few days ago, she did admit that she has received a lot of good feedback on her makeup in the movie, but she also is aware that she cannot repeat it in her upcoming movies because not only would it look old & boring after a while, but also because it needs to go with the character she is playing.

The movie itself boasts of good performances & very nice locations - it is a visual treat to watch. Between Veronica (Deepika) & Meera (Diana) in the movie, I resonated a lot more with Meera's style in terms of clothing & makeup, as I'm myself very fond of soft English colors, polka dots & ultra feminine cuts & prints. Not that Veronica is not styled well, it is just a personal pref…

ATB Learning Curve: The Elusive Nude Lipstick

I have been using makeup for close to 7 years now, and blogging about it for almost 4 years (yep, ATB completes 4 years this November!). It has been a journey full of makeup "Aaahaaa's!" & "Ohhh Nooo's!"

My initial 3 years were marked most by cheap Elle 18 or VOV China made cosmetics as I never really had enough pocket money left to splurge on even brands like Lakme.

But things changed quite a bit after I started to work & blog (in that order).

I have had my share of mistakes and WTF moments with makeup. I thought I would share some of these skincare & makeup learnings I have had over the years with you readers. The point behind sharing being that if my experience helps you make better decisions, why not? Hence the new feature "ATB Learning Curve"

Fiama Di Willis's Brand Ambassador Deepika Padukone's Makeup Tips

Thanks to ITC Fiama Di Willis, I recently had the opportunity to meet Deepika and interact with her in a blogger's meet they had organised.

I, of course, was armed with a list of makeup related queries. Deepika has really pretty, large brown eyes and really nice hair as well.
Favourite lipstick: Deepika's favourite lipstick is red, if she had it her way, she would wear it all the time. Next to red, she likes corals. But with smoky eyes she has to wear natural / nude lips instead to avoid it looking OTT.

Skin routine:
She believes hydration is the most important thing for healthy skin, whether that is hydrating from inside or outside.

Preparation for Cocktail:
She just soaked up as much sun as possible for that gorgeous tanned skin
